Black Beck Hole 01 (July 2013)
sketchfab
Scheduled stone discovered southwest of Black Beck Hole area on Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire. First published in Ilkley Archaeology Group's 1986 publication 'Carved Rocks on Rombalds Moor', this rock was later recorded 'Black Beck Hole 01' by the CSI: Rombalds Moor Project in 2013. The team questioned the authenticity of the markings, suggesting they are more likely caused by high-velocity projectiles than being cup marks. This model reveals deep depressions with secondary fracturing around their edges. Similar markings were observed on MOD firing ranges during NADRAP recording in County Durham. The imagery forms part of the HLF funded CSI: Rombalds Moor / Watershed Landscape Project archive deposited with ERA / ADS.
