Black & Decker 18v battery adapters can be easily converted to use LIDL Parkside 20v batteries, making them a cost-effective option. These Li-ion batteries are available at affordable prices, with a 2Ah battery costing £12 and a 4Ah battery priced at £23. The process involves using the top part of an old B&D battery case and securing it to the adapter with M3 20mm bolts and nuts. Two L-shaped battery contact tags need to be created and soldered according to the picture provided. These tags should then be epoxied into place. Next, attach the LIDL adapter to the top using screws and epoxy, followed by adding a spacer for the B&D contacts underneath. It's essential to drill 3mm holes through the B&D adapter plate from the original case. Due to limitations in Tinkercad, it's more practical to drill these holes instead of relying on the software. A minor adjustment may be required to fit the curved edge of the B&D adapter perfectly, which can be achieved by sanding it slightly.
