Human: A detailed model of the BL-755 Cluster Bomb. Textures: Detailed textures are provided including diffuse and bump maps that accurately capture every nuance of this complex device. History: The BL-755 cluster bomb resembles a standard 1,000 lb store but with a distinctive hard "saddle" on its spine for ejector release and crutching pad loads, as well as a large turbine-like air arming vane on the nose. The four rear fins appear squared off at first glance, but closer inspection reveals them to be hollow and telescopic in design. A central extruded aluminum skeleton provides seven bays long by seven bays around, each containing three submunitions (147 total). These are designed to telescope out to their full length on ejection, with a central cartridge and individual "balloon" for each bay deployed to stabilize the device. In front of the bomblets, a focal distance standoff and detonating device deploys, while an aft stabilizing device ensures accurate dispersal of the submunitions. Each unit is self-contained, featuring its own SAFU (safety and arming unit) that includes a shaped charge for armor penetration. The casing of this charge is constructed from wound tesselated square wire, capable of producing approximately 1,400 anti-personnel fragments. Together with debris from other parts of the device, total fragment count approaches a quarter of a million. It's rumored that even the remains of the main weapon skeleton possess enough kinetic energy to strip a tank's tracks. Initially, the original stabilizing device was a spring steel "coronet." However, tests later showed it to be too stable and insufficiently dispersing the bomblets. Apparently, this design was revived for a dive-bomb attack version.
