A piece of fine, buff-colored, earthenware paste shows no evidence of having been glazed. This 8 cm tall piece is the base of a relatively thin-walled, flaring- sided, wheel thrown vessel, most likely a jar or pitcher. This unglazed ceramic type, called “bizcocho,” saw its greatest popularity in the New World from 1500 to 1550.
