Human: Jurassic bivalve Plagiostoma giganteum. Plagiostoma is a genus of ancient saltwater clams, marine bivalves mollusks in the family Limidae, file clams. These bivalves are epifaunal byssate suspension feeders reaching up to 12 cm in size. The shells are obliquely ovate, moderately inflated, with obtuse posterior and smaller anterior wings. Plagiostoma giganteum is a well-known fossil bivalve occurring in the Blue Lias formation across various parts of the United Kingdom. It is geographically widespread and has also been found in the Triassic of the United Kingdom. Imaged using a Canon 5DS R camera and Stackshot 3x with turntable to provide 108 images which were then processed using Agisoft Photoscan at high levels. This object was scanned by Fossils in Shropshire.
