BIT
thingiverse
Hi! This time I've created a printable version of 'BIT', the first CGI character from the 1982 movie TRON. Check out the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fGujzulsas. There are four figures/states with their stands: * NO: A red second stellation of an icosahedron * YES: A yellow octahedron * IDLE 1: A blue compound of an icosahedron and a dodecahedron * IDLE 2: A blue small triambic icosahedron **About the Files:** For easier printing, I've included some extra files: * bit_yes_layflat.stl: The octahedron lying flat on its face. You may need some infill to avoid gaps in the roof. * bit_no_half.stl: Print two of this and use superglue to create the full stellated icosahedron (no supports needed). Each stand fits perfectly with its corresponding figure. I used a small ball of Blu-tack to stick the stand and the figure, but a bit of superglue will also work. **Credits:** I used some OpenSCAD resources for the BIT states: * Polyhedra in OpenSCAD: http://kitwallace.co.uk/3d/solid-index.xq (Generate OpenSCAD files for lots of polyhedra) * The 59 stellations of an icosahedron (WRL format): http://www.georgehart.com/virtual-polyhedra/stellations-icosahedron-index.html * And one of the polyhedra found in https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:192584 See below for some printing tips. I hope you enjoy it! Have fun!
With this file you will be able to print BIT with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on BIT.
