A contact force is generated by causing the contacts to connect before reaching the second stable equilibrium position. Living hinges are utilized at the other joints. This mechanism can be used as a fully compliant electrical switch or for various applications, such as on cabinet door hinges. This model can be 3D printed or milled. For optimal use, milling or cutting with polypropylene results in the best performance. If 3D printing, the number of cycles it can handle depends on the filament material used and its fatigue/flex properties. Refer to print settings for more information.
