Linzer Christmas Cookies Recipe Combine 250 grams of all-purpose flour, 125 grams of unsalted butter softened to room temperature, and 100 grams of granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the mixture until it forms a smooth dough. Add two egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the grated zest of about one tablespoon of lemon peel. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up before rolling it out to a thickness of about 1/8 inch on a lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass. Place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving about one inch of space between each cookie. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for five minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
