I've got leftover cement mix lying around, and it's a shame to let it go to waste. But now I can turn it into something useful – birdhouses! Here's how I do it: First, I make a wooden box with dimensions of 180mm x 130mm. The walls are 140mm high. Next, I cut a groove at the roof ridge for a hanger. I insert printed mold pieces numbered clockwise from 1a to 8a. Then, I fill the box with soft concrete mix. I take a piece of wire – preferably a bent bicycle spoke – and use it as a hanger. After that, I insert more mold pieces numbered from 1b to 8b. Now it's time to fill the rest of the box. Once complete, I add a piece of cardboard on the inside to cover everything up. This cardboard will stay inside the birdhouse. I let the mixture set for at least one week before moving on to the next step. To finish the birdhouse, I cut out a door plate and attach it to the inside bottom using screws. One design idea involves inserting a 70mm grey water tube as an inner support. However, this is completely optional. It takes around 64 hours of print time and 370cm³ of plastic to make one of these birdhouses.
