Simple design: These are restrictor plates designed to protect the nestbox entrance from predators and unwanted guests, and allow only certain birds into the box depending on what you are wanting to host. Restrictor plate sizes(inches) are: 1.125", 1.25", and 1.5" 1.125" common birds: House Wren, Chickadees 1.25" common Birds" Titmouse, (some) nuthatch, Warbler 1.5" common birds: Eastern/Western Bluebird, Carolina Wren Note: there are many resources online to tell you what hole size is necessary per bird species.
