This birdhouse competition entry showcases a nature-inspired design that promotes ventilation while keeping out light and water, all the while being structurally sound with minimal material usage. For prototyping, I utilized MakerWare and a Replicator 2X; ABS was printed at 240 degrees F, with a build plate temperature of 120 degrees F. A small-scale model was created using MakerBot slicer settings of .34mm thick layers, 5% infill, and 3 shells. However, the uploaded STL is inverted; this should not significantly affect print quality, though untested. The Thingiverse model has lower quality, as I faced issues uploading the larger file size.
