Birdhouse

This birdhouse offers maximum protection against predators. It´s pointed shape and the canopy will make it hard for any predator to reach for the hatchlings. Tied to a short rope, it will also swing away, making it even harder for predators to keep balance. In bad weather, the canopy will act as a sail, turning the entrance away from wind and rain. Designing this birdhouse, guidelines of the NABU, the German "Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union" have been consulted. A choice of three different sized entrances are included, each one optimised for a specific size of bird. 28mm: small birds like most smal tits, e.g. bluetit, marsh tit, coal tit, maybe even wren 34mm: medium birds like great tit, redstart, wryneck, sparrow, maybe small bats 45mm: large birds e.g. starling, woodpecker, nuthatch Mount the birdhouse min 2 Meter above ground level, facing east to southeast. The canopy will act as a sail, turnig the house away from wind and rain. Personally, my favourite printing material for this is wood filament, but this would require some form of protection, e.g. natural oil. Requirement: Printer volume 200mmx200mmx206mm required Instruction: Check 3D printer calibration with the "nut test"! If nut does not have close fit, change your printer setting accordingly. Dimensions of the printed parts should match dimensions of the 3d model. After assembly, tie short rope to avoid swinging in the wind, but still allow for twisting and turning. Material: For long lasting, use ASA or any other weatherproof material. If printed with PLA or wood filament, I strongly recommend to position the birdfeeder in shelter from sun and rain and use protective coating. Material: 4 x Phillps screws M4x10mm 4 x hex nuts M4 Rope/String 5mm dia.
