For a newer and improved version of my bird feeder on my own website, go to https://www.designuitinspiratie.nl/vogel-tempel-2/ This is a bird feeder designed specifically for small birds. Larger birds simply cannot fit inside. You can place food in the green feeder dish located in the center. The feeder features a hole in its middle to allow water to escape. Additionally, the feeder can be removed for easy cleaning. The individual parts of the feeder come together like a puzzle and are held in place with glue. To eliminate printer tool marks visible on the pictures, I painted the entire assembly with insulating primer later on. I chose the colors of PLA used without any specific reason other than having them available. The two different colors result from printing this model using two separate printers to save time. This bird feeder was printed at a resolution of 0.2mm with a nozzle size of 0.4mm. The temporary support parts were printed with only one wall layer and one top and bottom layer, featuring an infill percentage of 10%. This was done to minimize material usage. The remaining parts were printed with three layers for the walls, tops, and bottoms, and had an infill percentage ranging from 20-25%. The roof components were printed using support generated by Cura software. The mount or ring at the top is secured in place using a M3x40mm bolt and nut. Initially, I designed this "mount" as three separate parts but later changed it to two due to other modifications made during the design process. To make this part strong enough, I used PET-G Carbon to print it. However, this material tends to damage brass nozzles after a few prints, which is why a hardened steel nozzle is recommended instead. Unfortunately, such a nozzle is quite expensive (€30 in my location). In the "total assembly.STL" file, you can find the entire model assembled so that you can see where each part should be placed. March 28-2019: Additional parts were added to the design, including "roof total ass.stl" and "step 1.stl – step 4.stl". Please refer to the comments for more information. If you have any questions or believe I may have forgotten something, feel free to ask.
