Bird Suet Feeder
cults3d
A hanging holder for one or two standard 60mm suet balls prints both container and hanger, using any PLA filament. Birds adore suet - especially when it's easy to access and high off the ground. Starting with store-bought suet feeders gave me a couple of versions to work from. This experience taught me what not to create. The feeder had to be visually appealing, simple to maintain, and bird-friendly. All design elements were done in Tinkercad. My first attempt featured holes that were too small for birds to fit their heads through. The second version performed well but was fragile due to thin walls between holes, eventually falling apart. The third version included holes that were too large, causing suet to spill out when the balls reached golf ball size. Additionally, the walls were too slick and prevented birds from accessing the middle position. This published design solves all these issues. Extra perches enable birds to reach every part of the feeder, while the holes are big enough for them to access the inside but small enough to prevent suet from falling out until the final crumbs.
