Bird ready for laser cutting or 3d printing.
thingiverse
The original thing at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:41823 was only available as a step file, making it difficult to use directly. To prepare for laser cutting, each layer was converted into .STL and vector formats. The creator intends to 3D print the bird soon and share pictures; however, there are issues with exporting .DXF files from Inkscape. The process involved converting the step file using free software, orienting .STLs in ReplicatorG, converting them into 2D .SVGs with OpenSCAD and Slic3r, and laying out the design in Inkscape. Laser cutting requires 2mm material and can be scaled for different sizes; each included .SVG should be cut individually. Inkscape will convert to a .DXF when functioning properly. To print, use two of each part ending with "-2" and one of each part ending with "-1," choosing colors for an aesthetically pleasing bird.
