I have two cardinal pairs visiting my feeders every day. Unfortunately, they're often chased away by pigeons and doves. To give them a chance, I added a small plate designed specifically for cardinals. I fill it with nuts and seeds that pigeons tend to dislike. The pole is half an inch in diameter. The feeder walls are high enough to keep the seeds from spilling out. This project was quick and simple. I used Fusion 360 to create a basic sketch, pulling up just a few circles to different heights and planes. So far, it's working okay. Blue jays and crows join the cardinals at the feeder. Doves mostly sit there, keeping other birds from eating. At least there's enough food left for the cardinals to eat at dusk and sometimes even in the evening.
