BiRD Designs - Sunrise Lamp
thingiverse
The Sunrise Lamp was created by BiRD Designs. This innovative lamp combines an alarm clock with a touchless sensor that turns it on and off. By placing your hand in the center of the lamp, you can easily activate or deactivate the light. A built-in feature allows users to set a gradual brightness increase over time, which can be adjusted through code. This thoughtful design also includes a sensor that makes it possible to use The Sunrise Lamp as both an alarm clock and a regular lamp. BiRD Designs aimed to create a product that could be easily manufactured using materials compatible with laser cutters. The team succeeded in this endeavor, making the lamp's design accessible and open-sourced. The project was part of Open Design and Digital Fabrication Paper at Massey University. Rosie Chote, Dennis Chu, and Bridget Tangaere collaborated on the design process, which has been shared openly for others to learn from.
