Binocular Eclipse Solar Filter
thingiverse
I crafted custom rings for Jason's 10 x 50 mm Empire binoculars. They snugly fit binocular lenses measuring approximately 63 mm in diameter. I printed two sets of these precise rings. To create one ring, I roughly cut a piece of solar eclipse filter material and then applied several small pieces of double-sided tape to its surface. Next, I carefully adhered the ring to the filter material, ensuring a secure bond. Using a small pair of scissors or a razor-sharp knife, I delicately trimmed around the outside edge of the ring, taking care not to damage it. Subsequently, I applied several additional pieces of double-sided tape along the perimeter of the filter material. I then inserted this assembly into the large housing, carefully positioning it so that the filter material was sandwiched between the ring and the interior of the housing. A successful result will feature waves and minor wrinkles on the surface; however, creases or holes are unacceptable.
