A 2m wingspan V-tail glider was constructed using mostly hardware store parts, with the model depicting overall dimensions. The wings were made from Knauf Insulation 1200 x 600 x 30mm XPS Multi-Use Foam Board, and the fuselage was created using a 40mm PVC pipe that had its wall thickness removed via filing and sanding. The motor used was a Turnigy Glider Drive SK3 Competition Series - 3850 - 3.5 1400kv. Not shown in the model were the two-piece wings, which featured an approximately 10mm diameter aluminium tube set into each wing half using Gorilla Glue (or Sikabond Techgrip Polyurethane). A wooden dowel was inserted during assembly, with carbon fiber being a lighter alternative. Emax ES08MDII servos were used in the wings for ailerons/flaps, carved recesses into the wings using a dremel and glued into place. 3D printed hinge-points were also employed for ailerons/flaps, while carbon fiber rods epoxied through the fuselage were used to mount rear Ruddervators. Carbon fiber pushrods controlled the rear control surfaces. Videos and images were available for further reference.
