Human: Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques\nIn Chinese Zodiac, the year of the Monkey is February 8, 2016 to January 27, 2017. I designed Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques to celebrate the coming of a new year and draw attention to Formosan macaques in Taiwan.\nFormosan macaques have been living in Mountain Shou-shan in Taiwan for many years. In recent years, tourists or local residents feeding them have raised a controversial issue. The macaques' foraging behavior has changed, and they have become increasingly dependent on handouts. Additionally, intense monkey-human conflict has occurred. Some macaques snatch food from tourists, while others invade local houses. To address these threats, tourists or locals started attacking the macaques. Some were found poisoned and wounded by humans. The conflict around villages was severe, threatening the species and its protected status. Scientists reported that over 200 of the species had gone missing. This environment is disastrous for Formosan macaque habitation.\nScientists began working on conservation measures to reduce the conflict, aiming to provide less disturbed habitats for macaques. They suggested stopping feeding, disturbing, and touching macaques so they can stop relying on humans and return to their natural habitats.\nAs I designed Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques, I wanted to leave a time imprint on their body. The foot of Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques has Chinese words "Bing-shen" imprinted on it.\nThe Chinese sexagenary cycle is used to record days or years. Most people believe the year of the Monkey will return in 12 years, but it actually takes 60 years for the same Monkey year to recur. This means that a newborn today will be 60 years old when they encounter the next Bing-shen year.\nOn Formosan macaques, I designed 24 movable nodes that affect their overall dynamics and expression. These nodes represent the traditional agricultural calendar's 24 solar terms, each marking a slight change in climate throughout the year. When all 24 nodes complete their cycle, a new year begins. I hope this design reminds me of time's value and encourages meaningful use of it.\nps.\n1. If print quality is poor, the tail may not bend properly. A separate detachable tail kit can be printed instead.\n2. For best results, please avoid printing smaller than 0.86 and increase resolution to 0.15mm.\nThe same file is also shared on http://fastlab.tw/, a new 3D sharing webpage established by the Taiwan Information Strategy Promotion Association.
