Bing-shen year of Formosan monkey

Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques. In the Chinese Zodiac, the Monkey year falls on February 8, 2016, to January 27, 2017. I designed Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques to celebrate the arrival of a new year and draw attention to Formosan macaques in Taiwan. Formosan macaques, Macaca cyclopis, have inhabited Mountain Shou-shan in Taiwan for many years. Recently, tourists or local residents feeding them has raised controversy. Their foraging behavior has changed, and they've become increasingly dependent on handouts. Intense monkey-human conflict has occurred. Some macaques snatched food from tourists, while others invaded local houses. In response to these threats, tourists or local residents around villages started attacking the macaques. Some macaques were found poisoned and attacked by humans with wounds on their bodies. The conflict around villages was intense against the species and its protected status. Scientists reported that 200 of the species went missing. This is a disastrous environment for Formosan macaque habitation. Scientists started working on conservation measures to reduce the conflict, providing less disturbed habitats for macaques. They suggested stopping feeding, disturbing, and touching macaques so they could stop depending on humans and start returning to their habitats. As I designed Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques, I tried to leave an imprint of time on their bodies. Thus, the foot of Bing-shen year of Formosan macaques is imprinted with Chinese words of Bing-shen. The Chinese sexagenary cycle is a means of recording days or years. Most people believe that the Monkey year will return in 12 years. However, the same year of the Monkey will actually return in 60 years. I designed 24 movable nodes on Formosan macaques' bodies, adjusting each node affects their dynamic and expression, representing the traditional solar term 24 nodes. When these nodes cycle complete, a new year arrives. I hope this design reminds me to cherish time and make it more meaningful. 1. If your printer has poor print quality, the separated tail may not bend well. You can try printing the detached tail instead. 2. When shrinking prints, please don't go below 0.86 and increase resolution to 0.15mm. I also shared this file on http://fastlab.tw/, a new 3D sharing website from Taiwan's Information Strategy Institute. As it was just established, there are few works available. I hope you 3D players can enrich this place slowly. Color suggestions: Body - gray or terracotta brown; Abdomen - white; Finger and toe tips - dark gray or black; Face - orange or pink.
