Binaural Microphone
thingiverse
This project enables the creation of binaural recordings that mimic real-life soundscapes, thanks to their recording method mirroring how humans perceive sound. When listened to through good-quality headphones, these recordings produce a highly realistic sonic experience. Shepshepard has kindly created a binaural recording demonstration on YouTube at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SBl5bnDX8Q&feature=youtu.be As the designer for Shapeways here, I can be hired at this link: https://www.shapeways.com/designer/jonathanmarch/hire-me **Instructions** **Step 1: Printing Parts** Print all necessary parts, then reduce density settings to 25% or more on both ear and side pieces. Print settings should be: * Main Body - quantity (1) main_body.stl * Top - quantity (1) top.stl * Side Parts - quantity (2) side_parts.stl * Nut Holder - quantity (1) nut_holder.stl * Thumb Screw Top - quantity (1) thumb_screw_top.stl * Ear Left/Right - quantities (1) each, ear_left.stl & ear_right.stl **Step 2: Acquiring Additional Components** Purchase these items separately: * (2) 1/4" Nuts * (1) 1/4" Hex Bolt * (1) Stereo Microphone (http://www.azden.com/products/microphones/lapel-microphones/ex-503/ similar ones have been used in a dual configuration) Optional components: Cotton balls for enhanced realism. **Step 3: Assembly** Glue the following parts together: Insert a 1/4" nut into main_body's bottom portion. Glue the 1/4" hex bolt through the thumb_screw_top assembly. Secure nut_holder at top main_body section. Mount side_parts, then ears, by aligning holes on both parts. Insert microphones: connect the left mic to the left ear and vice versa for proper configuration. Connect remaining wires carefully; they're part of the recording device's design. Feed side_parts into main_body. Then place optional cotton balls within main_body cavity, filling in any voids to mimic a more immersive experience. Insert 1/4" hex bolt through top main_body opening & hand-tighten without applying too much pressure to ensure durability & safety
