Billy 40mm Eye for Animatronic Head
thingiverse
After creating the Awesome Billy Saw Animatronic Hollowed Head files courtesy of PinkButterfly, my friend designed an eye roughly the same size as a table tennis ball but with strategically placed shafts and holes for easy hardware mounting. A vertical shaft runs from top to bottom, while another one at the back extends almost to the center, accompanied by a small dot to serve as the pupil's focal point. When printed, these components can be fitted and moved like a ventriloquist's dummies eyes. For optimal printing results, consider increasing your printer's resolution if possible, remembering to adjust the top and bottom layers accordingly. Additionally, it's recommended to print with extra shells for better outcomes. If you manage to raise the eye off the build plate while using support structures, you'll achieve a smooth curve on the bottom; however, be prepared to lightly sand the area where the support was, depending on your specific settings. I've since added a 40mm eye that now features an Iris design, making it easier to either mask and spray paint or hand-paint.
