BilbyCNC Printober 2012 Filament cell structure
thingiverse
Create cellular structures using 3mm filament with a clips tool. Imagined as an ordinary cube with each corner cut off, this structure is flexible due to its springy plastic. However, it may not come out perfectly straight due to the bent filament. To make a 14-sided structure, print 72 joiners and cut 72 10cm lengths of 3mm filament. Connect these components into 18 squares such that the 'mouth' of each joiner points outwards from each corner. Assemble six squares to form a hexagonal base, followed by another identical set for the top layer. Add six more squares on one side of the base and attach the top structure. Refer to images for guidance, and repeat this pattern to create multiple structures using the same base and top components.
