Bike Steerer Tube Storage Plug
thingiverse
Using this plug, you can store gear inside the steerer tube of your mountain bike by inserting it into the hollow space within the headtube. The plug fits snugly under the steerer, which is located at the top of the fork, and accommodates a 1.5" tapered head tube. On my mountain bike, this setup provides approximately 1.25 x 5.5 inch cylinder of storage space. I can fit a CO2 inflation cartridge and a couple of thin tire levers within it. If you don't want to print with flexible material for the seal, you can use some rubber O-rings or a piece of foam cut into a ring shape instead. I tried this approach and found that all three seal solutions worked well. The bolt I used is a 3mm (M3 x 15mm) bolt. I secured it using two nuts, but there are several ways to do this. If you want to make the plug "tool-less" to open, simply print the wing nut.
