The bike silencer attaches directly beside the rear wheel. Position the silencer at an angle so that the gear touches the rubber on the bike tire. As the bike moves, it turns a rod, producing a motor sound. The card inside the silencer strikes a screw, creating a clicking noise. Similar to how playing cards and clothespins were used in the past, but with the added benefit of a cool silencer. This design can be entirely printed out, except for a few screws. The next version of this design will allow for the use of a 20-ounce soda bottle as an alternative to printing the entire silencer. This design requires glue and screws to hold everything together. Note: This design has not been test-printed yet. I am currently running a test print tonight, which should be completed by Friday at noon (7-1-16). I am using Bike_SilencerV2.stl as my test print file. The print will take approximately 12 hours to complete everything. Printing has begun, and I have included a couple of images of the start of the print. I am using a Lulzbot Taz 5 from our local Maker Space, which gives me a large print bed to work with. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly, and I can post photos of the printed silencer.
