An innovative solution to secure a water bottle cage on a bike. UPDATE: The initial design failed after some usage, so I created a sturdier version. Try that one first. BikeHeadsetCageMountV2R2.stl My wife's mountain bike frame didn't come equipped with any water bottle cage threaded bosses from the factory. Nor would other potential mounting locations work due to various reasons. So, I designed this mount to replace the headset cap. Important: This design has been installed on a bike and taken for a spin around a local area. It seems functional, but it hasn't undergone rigorous testing yet. Therefore, I can't guarantee its durability. If you create one and it breaks or doesn't meet your expectations, please share your experience in the comments. The bottle cage mounting holes are not threaded. Instead, standard 5mm mounting bolts self-tap into them successfully so far. If the bolts loosen over time, consider backing them up with a nut and applying locktite to the threads for added security.
