Bike A Utility serves as a removable "basket" that is mounted on the handlebar of your bike via a clamp (HAP), thumbscrew, and nut. As of August 29th, 2016, all files from this update are marked with u29816. Redesigns include Bike A Body and Bike A Holder, featuring additional extrusions and intrusions to ensure secure mounting on the holder/clamp. Images above demonstrate these improvements. Compatible Nut and Bolt: You can 3D print the thumbscrew and nut using the provided design. The thumbscrew and nut are similar to those found in off-the-shelf biking equipment. The thumbscrew should have a fine thread that is at least 1.2 cm long and no longer than 2 cm, with a diameter of 3 mm. The nut should not exceed a diameter of 6 mm. Design only supports hex nuts. Build Process (Tip: see attached images): All parts are 3D printed using SLA or any printer capable of printing the design. Layer thickness should be set at 0.1 mm. When all parts are printed, an appropriate nut is placed in the hexagonal hole in the HAP. The hex nut should fit snugly into the bottom of the hole. Additional sanding may be required around extrusions on top of the HAP due to 3D printing technology and plastic material used. These two extrusions serve as locks to prevent the main body from sliding off during rapid deceleration. To detach the main body, tilt it towards the ground and slide it off the HAP. The design can be attached to the handlebar using an appropriate thumbscrew and the HAP. Bike A Utility can be oriented in any direction that serves you best. When attached, connect the pointer parts with a binding part by pushing it onto the main body until secure. To detach, press downwards on the top platform and upwards on the bottom platform, then pull the binding part towards you. Material: Suggested material is ABS. Unfortunately, the design was not tested with different plastic materials, but based on its function and geometry, a strong and flexible plastic material resistant to weather is recommended. Use: When installed on your bike, you can strap many items to Bike A Utility using Velcro straps, zip ties, or rope. The design is intended for lighter items such as bathing suits, towels, shampoo, water bottles, flashlights, and similar. You can also mount multiple Bike A Utility designs on your bike's handlebar. Extra information: The Clamp (HAP) was designed based on a biking equipment clamp, making it compatible with thumb screws used for biking equipment. The HAP is wider and taller than most clamps, optimized for its purpose and design, offering greater friction between the handlebar and the HAP without using rubber-like materials. To increase friction and prevent Bike A utility from moving during biking, a piece of rubber material can be placed between the HAP and the handlebar.
