Recent video by Teaching Tech (https://youtu.be/eM8zSG8fEkk) has inspired me to add closed loop steppers to my Ender 5 Plus. The Y-axis present a challange, since the stepper motor has an output shaft on either end of the motor. While waiting for the closed loop drivers to arrive, I have started developing some geometry for adapting the magnetic encoder on the y-axis shaft, the idea being that the driver board be fixed on the upper right hand corner of the y-axis shaft and not directly to the motor. I plan to use existing fasteners (the ones holding the shaft bearing assembly in place) to fix the geometry in place. Once I have the parts installed, I will add photos. Update: 08/08/2020 Working well! Update: 25/08/2020 Thanks to feedback from comments: appears to fit on non-plus Ender 5 as well.
