Big sphere
thingiverse
A few days ago, I attempted to print a life-sized bowling ball from Thingiverse's model #3347470. Designing it was effortless since it's essentially a sphere, but printing proved to be a challenge. The model features steep overhangs, necessitating an excessive amount of time and causing significant filament waste due to unnecessary infill. This new design addresses these issues. To make it easier to print, I divided the sphere into eight manageable pieces that can be printed individually. This modification allows you to print a sphere twice as large as your printer's build space. For instance, if your printer has a 200x200x200mm build area, this model enables you to print a sphere with a diameter of up to 400mm. To assemble the sphere, simply print four copies of big_sphere_barrell, two pieces of big_sphere_TL, and two pieces of big_sphere_TR. Then, carefully glue them together to form a complete sphere.
