The Flashforge 30mm spool holders are adequate for large diameter spools. Nevertheless, the original retaining nut is insufficient due to its small size as illustrated in one image; hence, larger spool hubs can become detached when moving around the machine. Wide and big hubs have the same 30mm thread specification and thus manage even enormous spools without problems.\nOctober 14: A revised, compact version of the large hub retaining nut has been created that should utilize less filament but still adequately restrain larger diameter spools with ample hub space. Note: There is also mention of newer Flashforge machines equipped with a bigger 50mm spool holder tube as reported in March 2015; thus it's recommended to carefully check this before proceeding with printing. The included STL files have instructions attached for users who desire customization.
