Big Gears for Custom Cog Work
thingiverse
These custom cogs are designed for decorative purposes, and their large size will undoubtedly make the installation a showstopper. The cogs come in three, five, or seven segments, each printed separately before being glued together to form a cohesive unit. I chose ABS for this project because of its reliability when it comes to gluing. Check out my video on ABS for more information: https://youtu.be/DL9Dfzolrc8 The cogs are specifically designed to accommodate 608 ball bearings, while smaller versions use 685 bearings instead. To secure the bearings in place, M5 screws are recommended, and a set of spacers is included to alleviate axial pressure. To elevate the cogs, two bearing blocks are provided, allowing for smooth operation on two levels. Please ensure that your installation is safe and secure, especially when it comes to curious children who might be tempted to grab hold of anything interesting. Remember to keep their fingers out of harm's way at all times.
