Big Face Shield and Stacks-Brake Rotor Style-V2.1

This is an upgraded version of Big Face Shield and Stacks--Brake Rotor Style-V1.2 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4394121 This was originally a redesign request of the "Face Shield Big Remix by ICU nurse" https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4312120 by BlackDogCarbonFiber, which was based on the Prusa face shield. Huge thanks to ICU nurse Matt Behning, the original designer, for testing and approving modifications (and for many of the photos). Thanks also to Chad Schwartz for suggesting the tab concept and for providing consultation and encouragement in the redesign process. Two 1-inch wide rubber tourniquets are used to hold the shield onto the wearer's head. A plastic sheet 12 inches wide and at least 9.5 inches tall is used for the face shield. Brake Rotor tabs must be removed before use. These must be printed using only 0.4mm nozzles. Other sized nozzles result in shields that will likely be rejected due to lack of tensile strength. Includes stacks 1-10. Have been tested to 8, but if you want to print higher, go for it. Let me know how it goes. If you want to go any higher, contact me by leaving a comment for taller stack requests. Template for punching shield plastic can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4546073 Split Version for smaller printers can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4564793 Thanks for donating your printer's time to help! God bless you. -Luke Swanson Use at your own risk. This has not been tested or certified for medical use. Experimental only. Provided AS IS with no warranty expressed or implied. CHANGE LOG: v2.1 Updates (July 31, 2020): -Added slots to act as strap anchors and eliminate the need for staples -Filled pegs for strength -Improved slot geometry to provide a stronger frame v2.0 Updates (July 18, 2020): -Introduced new, internal peg supports that originate within the "brake rotor style" (BRS) stack gaps. This design tolerates a layer shift on lower frames while allowing subsequent upper frames and layers to print successfully. It also reduces travel time as well as eliminates stringing and weakness at the former peg support columns by removing the columns entirely in favor of a more reliable system. -Increased peg size to better complement US hole punches and reduce vertical play of the attached shield. -Shifted pegs slightly to more easily measure punch-hole centers when using US Custom measurements (see template below). -Heightened rotor tabs to make room for the new peg support system and make stack separation easier. -Altered rotor tab arrangement for improved ease of tab removal before final sanding. -Added mini BRS raft to fix typically flattened pegs on the bottom layer/model, thereby making all models identical with correctly printed pegs. This also reduces shield fails caused by inadequate bed adhesion. -Returned to "innie" lettering for a closer frame-to-shield fit. -Added "NOT FOR RESALE" lettering. -Center-to-center measurements are US Custom. Punch template produces ovals instead of circles, improving horizontal tolerances as well as overall shield security. Matching laser printed template coming soon. -Created 3D-printed hole punch shield template to match frame (requires 6mm Swingline single punch), see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4546073 Chamfer and v1.1 Updates (May 23, 2020): -Maintained features of ICU nurse Matt's original design -Flattened the top of the shield to allow stackability -Introduced "Brake Rotor Style" stacking geometry for consistent prints at higher stacks -Revised stack holes to be geometric for cleaner prints -Added internal structural support for strength at the wider junctions
