Big Box for Remote Controls and WhatNot
thingiverse
I required a substantial storage container. I possess a custom-built Mendel, which I constructed myself. This enclosure comprises two components: one measures 190mm x 190mm x 75mm and the other measures 190mm x 190mm x 25mm. The dimensions are roughly equivalent to my printer's maximum printing size. The total weight of the material, as calculated by my slicer/printer, exceeds half a kilogram. This design parameter was essential: I desired an enclosure that would deter my dog from accessing it, and a substantial weight is beneficial in this regard. I incorporated intricate designs onto the sides and a repeating pattern on the top/bottom to enhance visual appeal while minimizing plastic usage. To achieve optimal fitment, 2mm of clearance between the box top and bottom lip was intentionally designed. The top must be lifted off manually, preventing it from accidentally sliding off; however, it's not overly secure. I needed a substantial container for my nVidia Shield with controllers and a Steam box controller, hence the requirement for a "Big" Box. All cutouts were carefully planned to eliminate the need for support structures during printing.
