When the hum of an electric fan became too much for me, I made up my mind to upgrade the radiator a bit further. The heatsink on my motherboard caught my attention and I decided to take it out. There are radiators that come without "ears" which attach directly to the chip using double-sided tape. This design has resulted in a smaller box for mine. Also, I wasn't too fond of how open the standard case cover was. So, I altered it as well. I even went ahead and covered up the slot for the IDE cable. What really bothered me, though, was that the fan had to be placed on the cover, taking up all the space there is. There are monitors and indicators out there that need more room, but the fan took up every last bit of it. So I decided to increase the height of my box so that I could place the fan near the IR receiver instead. However, I've still kept the option to put the fan on top if you want to. In any case, if you don't feel like using a fan (and I personally have no use for one), you can replace it with a barbecue instead. Just like my previous box "Zebra", I made things easy by adding a button and a recess under the SD card socket. Also, I designed a cover that you can attach whatever you want to. So now, you've got two covers to choose from.
