Big Blue's LED Light Beam

The LED Light Beam is designed for attachment to Big Blue Mk3's Fan-Duct, with a 50mm LED strip angled at 45 degrees to illuminate the print/nozzle area. The LED strip can be sourced in spools or shorter lengths, and this example uses ultra-bright LED strips powered by 12Vdc from the fan supply. This lighting solution is compatible with both Fan-Duct designs as well as other cooling systems. The LED Light Beam's protective arches cover electrical connections at each end. Printing can be done using Big Blue, and once completed, the model requires cleaning of protection arch areas with needle files. A coat of acrylic clear varnish or nail varnish may be applied to enhance the LED strip's adhesive backing. Solder connecting wires to the LED strip, insert it into the Light Beam aligning connections under an arch, and remove the backing before pressing the strip onto the beam. Finally, glue the Led Light Beam in place using 5-minute epoxy resin.
