Biface XCB-003-248 is a site extensively investigated by A.P. McCartney in 1971. The site marks the type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village boasting an uncommon whalebone house and numerous artifacts comparable to those found in the Bristol Bay region exists here. Its age ranges approximately from 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts derive from extensive research carried out under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner serves as the Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing took place in Geomagic or Polyworks. In Geomagic Wrap, 2-8 photos were utilized for texture. Initial digitizing work was conducted at the IVL at Id St Univ. Subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P., conducted a comprehensive study of Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula in 1974, published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's research is documented in Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, with the DOI: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007.
