Biface Fragment XCB-003-278\nXCB-003, also known as IZM-003, was thoroughly investigated by A.P. McCartney in 1971. The site serves as the primary reference point for the Izembek Phase. This village boasts a distinctive whalebone house and numerous artifacts that closely resemble those found in the Bristol Bay region. Dating back to approximately 1200-1350 CE, this collection provides valuable insights into Alaska Peninsula's ancient culture. The research behind these Alaska Peninsula artifacts was made possible through grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the project as Principal Investigator. A total of 2-8 photos were used to create detailed textures in Geomagic Wrap. The initial digitizing work was carried out at the IVL located within Idaho State University. Further processing and publication were completed by Global Digital Heritage. McCartney's findings were initially presented in McCartney, A.P. (1974). Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula. APUA 16(1):59-84. Later, Maschner's research was published under doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 in Arctic Anthro, January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, pages 98-111.
