Biface, End Blade Mid-Section XCB-003-249\nXCB-003 or IZM-003 is a site extensively examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the primary reference point for the Izembek Phase. A small village with an exceptional whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region exists here. This site dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. Research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411 has resulted in a comprehensive collection of Alaska Peninsula artifacts. H. Maschner is the Principal Investigator behind this research. A Faro Edge Arm or Minolta Vivid 9i was used to scan these artifacts. Geomagic or Polyworks software processed them, while 2-8 photos were utilized for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing and publication completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney's study, published in APUA 16(1):59-84 in 1974, provides insights into prehistoric cultural integration along the Alaska Peninsula. Maschner's research, available online as doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007, offers a detailed examination of Arctic anthropology, as presented in Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2, 98-111.
