Bicycle Water Bottle Adapter for disposable 16.9oz/500ml bottles
thingiverse
I got tired of washing conventional water bottles and found myself pouring bottled water into water bottles just to fit the bottle cage on the bike. This model was printed in PLA and used on my bike for thousands of miles, acting as a sleeve for 16.9 ounce (500ml) bottles and making it easy to take bottled water along on a ride. The 16.9 ounce (500ml) size appears to be a global standard, with only a handful of manufacturers - mostly from France and Italy - making high-speed bottling machines that provide free or generic bottle mold designs. This bottle holder should be good worldwide. Using this adapter means I don't have to bend my alloy bottle cage to fit these types of bottles and can go between normal bottles and spring water bottles without any changes on the bike. A recent printing concerned me when the fit of the bottle wasn't snug, so I tried different filaments to see if it was a thermal thing and found some filaments were better, but couldn't get back to the original fit. A second version is now available that uses a rubber band to secure the bottle. The version without the rubber band doesn't require any support during printing, while the version with the slot for the rubber band requires support only in and around the rubber-band slot.
