Bicycle Trailer Hitch
thingiverse
The hitch that came with my bicycle trailer only works on the rear axle, which is a major limitation. I have to pull off the kickstand and replace it with the trailer hitch every time I want to use the trailer. This process is quite cumbersome, so I don't end up using the trailer as much as I would like. However, I've noticed that there's a set of two threaded screw points on my bike, right next to the axle. These screws are perfectly positioned for mounting a new hitch. Unfortunately, this means I'd have to destroy the existing hitch or modify it in some way. The mount point on my bicycle consists of two threaded M5 screws spaced 24mm apart. If your bike has a similar setup, you should be able to use this design without any issues. I've designed this model with a sturdy material like carbon fiber filament in mind. Although I haven't tested it yet, I'm fairly confident that it will work well with strong materials. Shapeways can also print this design in metal if needed. I've had to model the hitch for CNC fabrication on a machine like a Tormach anyway. As an added bonus, printing it solid in ABS might just work – but I'm not entirely sure about that.
