Reliably measures saddle height based on the point where the saddle is 80mm wide.I don't know much about bike fitting, and I've never been particularly good at measuring saddle height, so today when I saw Ronan McLaughlin share his home made “80mm point” I realized what a great idea it was, and decided to make my own. He also lamented not having a 3D printer, so it was almost like a challenge. 😆Thanks to Ronin for pointing out that gebioMized already offers a similar tool for measuring the 80mm point - although theirs seems to take the measurement from the front of the tool, not the actual 80mm width point at the back of the tool. He mentioned it in his 2023 Eurobike tech gallery (part 3) on Escape Collective. Also, quick aside, if you like bikes, you should really check out Escape Collective. It's the best bike-related media outlet that I've found, which is why I'm one of the founding members.UsagePut it on top of the saddle and slide it back until it stops. It should hang mostly level. Make sure the measuring bumps are towards the back, you want the 80mm point to be on the same side as those bumps. Then, you can take a tape measure to the point and get a good, reliable reading. Note that the shared model is slightly different from the one in the photos and has a clearer measuring point.Print instructionsI printed in 0.32mm draft mode on my MK4 with a 0.6mm nozzle and didn't touch a thing. This doesn't have to be a strong print so infill and shells are pretty much irrelevant.
