Bicycle Luggage carrier adapter
thingiverse
Originally, my low-cost bike didn't come with a luggage carrier, while my old one was incompatible due to different screw hole placements. Frustrated, I decided to buy a new carrier that conformed to the latest standards. However, this led me to think about 3D printers and how they can prevent us from being "tricked" into buying products with new packaging but the same old standards. As a solution, I designed an adapter consisting of two parts - a front plate and a back plate. The front plate attaches to the bike rack and fits the small triangle of the bike frame, while the back plate stabilizes the entire adapter. I opted for oversized bicycle pipes to ensure a secure fit, making this solution suitable for others facing the same issue. If needed, you can easily adjust the size in FreeCAD. The backplate includes two bar clamps from this Thingiverse design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:141241), while the front plate was printed with 30% infill for added strength. The backplate, printed at 30% infill as well, may have minor overhang issues but should be manageable by any printer. For optimal performance, print with ABS for its elasticity. I also used clamps from the same Thingiverse design and nuts from another (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6021). I'd like to extend my gratitude to both creators for their contributions to this project.
