Suggested to me by Dave Rome of CyclingTips (@romeandstuff on Instagram) when he noticed a similar tool in the CeramicSpeed hub bearing tool kit. The tool slips over press-fit end caps found on many hubs, especially those with 12 and 15mm thru-axles. Once in place, lightly tighten the M3 screws to clamp down on the end cap, and then the body of the tool makes it easier to pull the end cap free from the hub. It's simple and effective, and works well in my testing … but I never use it. See the last photo and you'll see one of my all-time favorite tools, the Knipex Pliers Wrench. Awful name, divine tool, with smooth adjustable parallel jaws that grip super well in all types of different applications, including removing end caps. In fact, when I'm doing hub service and need to remove an end cap, I grab my 180mm KPWs and don't even remember I printed this until after I've got the end cap off. So, while you can print this, and it'll work just fine, there's a much better tool which will prove useful in many, many more situations. But, I'm still sharing it in case you don't want to get the KPW but still need some way to get axle end caps off.Caveat: This won't work for end caps that screw on, you'll still need other tools for those.Printing is simple, it will print just fine at any resolution, with wall thickness optimized for 3 shells at 0.3mm on the MK3* using PrusaSlicer. No supports needed. After printing, insert two M3 screws at least 14mm long, and you're good to go.
