Just liking or adding it to a collection won't get you those updates. This is a digital spoke tension meter that uses a spring to create deflection in a bicycle spoke and measures it with an analog gauge. The resulting reading corresponds to the tension in the spoke, which allows wheel builders to achieve recommended maximum tension while also ensuring balanced spoke tightness. The design heavily draws from Jobst Brandt's original 1975 concept. Unlike other spoke tension meters on the market, this one uses a lightweight spring that minimizes deflection and measures tension on the same side as reference points, reducing its susceptibility to spoke geometry variations. Huge credit goes to Modellaner for his Tensiometer project, which sparked my interest in creating this tool. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work on this project, and I appreciate the help of Quang Vuong, who shared his knowledge and ideas long before we began working on it. Additionally, thanks to Modellaner for converting DXF drawings from Quang Vuong into a usable PDF format. This design was created using Fusion 360, and you can view the latest version at https://a360.co/2PcaNK6. If you choose to use the specified gauge, I recommend removing the ball point indicator as it serves no purpose and may hinder accurate readings. To remove it, simply use a pair of pliers to unthread the tightly installed end. Note that other gauges can be used, but they must fit specific dimensions outlined in the design. Any changes to these dimensions will likely compromise the tool's function. This design intentionally omits bearings and instead uses smooth posts to minimize part count. Once I set up a calibration rig, I plan to test this design against one with bearings to assess any potential differences in accuracy. Given PLA's low friction properties, I'm not anticipating issues with this approach.
