Bicycle camera mount for BulbHead com's COP CAM
thingiverse
This is a versatile clamp system designed to secure the 1-inch cube COP CAM by Bulbhead.com to a 27.2mm seat post for bicycles. To tackle this task, I created a basic block design and had it manufactured via ABS parts printing. The bolt holes are sized to accommodate #8 or #10 [M4 or M5] hardware for added stability. A slight enlargement of the seat post hole allows for the insertion of felt pieces to prevent post marring. The cube hole is precision-cut to fit a COP CAM perfectly, including its push button and LED indicator. However, it's essential to ensure that the camera screws are tightened just enough to secure the unit; over-tightening can cause issues with the on/off function. By pairing this mount with the compact size of the COP CAM, you'll enjoy a "crotch-cam" forward view of your bike ride and part of your bicycle. This setup allows for more flexibility compared to mounting larger cameras like GoPro at that location. A seat stay mount is also included in this design, initially intended to feature a spar for added support. However, after testing, I found that the presence of a spar would introduce excessive vibration; therefore, it was omitted from my videos. Further development could certainly yield a more compact and refined mounting unit with adjustable features, additional mounting points, and varying angles. Modifying the seat post hole size or shape can also accommodate different posts or handlebars. Although the COP CAM is not an exceptional camera, it can capture decent and unique action angles when used in this setup.
