I was concerned that carrying a Bic ™ lighter in my messenger bag would lead to the butane release lever being accidentally pressed by the bag's pressure, causing either the butane tank to be drained or creating a potentially explosive situation inside the bag. A simple solution is a small protective capsule that fits over the top of the lighter and covers the butane release mechanism and spark wheel. This tiny sleeve attaches securely with a gentle spring grip and features strategically placed openings on each side for easy removal when the lighter is needed.
