Bi Tech Micro battery cover
thingiverse
Bi-Tech Micro battery cover. A custom battery door for a friend who lost his cover for the detector. Luckily he had a spare so I had something to work from. However, it is a lousy shape to copy with a lot of useless curves. Trying to copy it exact was a recipe for failure and ate a lot of time to no end. But I realised while trying that there was a way to do it better and in a manner that made it more FDM friendly. An exact FDM duplicate of the original would likely fail the first time you removed it. The leading edge now has a version of the original tabs with securing clips but I also beefed up the shell of the cover to include a slide over portion in the same area. Effectively you slot the leading edge in at an angle over the battery, hook the edge of the main unit between the tabs, then level out and slide the lower part of the cover (bottom of the detector) in place and slide it shut at which point it snaps firmly home. In a slight tweak to my first viable version, I also added an extra bit at the base of the cover to rest against the copper threads to further keep it in place and secure the cover from movement.
