BFF-1 Bulk freighter Rough 1/270
thingiverse
Wanted to design a freighter from the X-wing series using Jackcrow's container (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:865773) as a starting point. The design relies on utilizing a CR-90 stand set (cardboard and everything). This updated version incorporates more magnet points for a secure fit to the ship. This is still a work in progress, with other ships displayed being copyrighted by FFG and LFL or purchased from Shapeways; not included are any other models. Instructions: Printing instructions were printed on a Makerbot 718 using a rough print that took three days. To assemble the freighter, print the top and bottom sections. These can be printed side by side to create two boxcars. Box car parts should note that the bars included in these parts are not scaled correctly; they need to either be scaled down or cut. Assembly may require a little drilling depending on your machine. To assemble the freighter, place 3 printed pins in the center of the top and bottom sections and superglue them together. Add magnets to the 12 freighter slots (8.5 mm magnets from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/10-piece-rare-earth-magnets-67488.html) as needed, along with green stuff for added support. Add bridges to complete the assembly. For stand preparation, place a small amount of green stuff into the two stand tubes and wet them with water for easy release. Gently depress the epic stand peg into the tube, then set up the stand with the CR-90 stand set and carefully remove it to create an imprint of the epic stand triangles. To assemble box cars, superglue together 2x walker feet (also known as bar supports) and 1 bar cut to size. Green stuff can be used for added support. This design makes enough parts for 8 bars and feet, with 2 on each side of the box car; see http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:865773 for more details.
