Bezier Mesh Surface V0.9
thingiverse
The author has made significant progress in creating printable Bezier surfaces, thanks to the inspiration and support from syvwlch. With the recent discovery of fire (polyhedron), they are now able to generate solid objects by specifying the thickness of a surface. However, there is still experimentation needed with polyhedra and CSG commands in OpenScad, as cutting out a cylinder from the thing remains unknown. The current approach uses normals at each vertex to project 'inward' for the specified length and construct a new surface. While this works for an isolated triangle, it leaves gaps when applied to multiple triangles. The final solution involves calculating a new surface inward from the original control points and finding the appropriate points between them. They have now added a .stl file called "bezier_surface_polyhedra1" which demonstrates the full potential of the polyhedron technique. To experience it, load up the test_bezier.scad file, play with parameters, press 'F5', and enjoy the pretty picture.
